Helping to Empower the Acworth Community with Kimberly Haase for Alderwoman

This is a Better to Speak Communications case study, to highlight our previous partnerships and projects with Black community leaders and organizations.

CONTENT STRATEGY – BRAND STORY COLLATERAL – CONTENT CREATION

The Challenge

In 2021, Kimberly Haase was running for a seat on Acworth, Georgia’s Board of Aldermen against a 24-year incumbent. She understood that the biggest thing about her campaign would be branding and simply letting Acworth voters know they had a choice.

The Solution

Since we had to move quickly to get the campaign off the ground, our partnership started with creating a brand suite and collateral for Haase’s campaign. This included:

  • Branding

    • Logo

    • Shirts, flyers, yard signs

    • Car magnets + stickers

    • Website

  • NationBuilder landing page

    • To collect donations and build our email + SMS lists

Once the campaign officially kicked off, here’s how we navigated a fast-paced and short timeline to keep the team on track and engaged with voters:

  • Outreach + Communications

    • Campaign announcement press release

    • Interview coordination with local press to introduce her to Acworth voters

    • Weekly Update emails internally and externally to campaign supporters

    • Outreach to City of Acworth employees, local businesses, and other candidates to build relationships

    • Coordinating the campaign’s answers to a voting guide Q&A

The Outcome

  • We were able to quickly learn and iterate on messaging, design, content, etc. to ensure we were being effective in reaching voters and with the materials we spent money on.

    • QR Code on printed materials for community members to scan and see the NationBuilder page

    • Website page with information on how to vote early, on Election Day and by mail

    • Supporter materials (ie. shareable flyers, social media graphics, etc.)

    • Direct mail during GOTV

  • We had to create systems and processes to meet the broader demand of campaign management, beyond just communications and content.
